I already know Spanish. Why do I need to study for the LOTE Spanish 613 exam?
- First, the LOTE Spanish 613 is a challenging exam! Even native and heritage speakers can fail this exam without proper preparation.
- Surprisingly, the pedagogy/instruction and assessment, including the multiple choice questions, lesson plan, and essay, account for 34.6% of the exam. That means over a third of the exam is not testing your knowledge of Spanish, but on how to teach it.
- Next, the interpretive listening (listening comprehension) section is challenging. You must be familiar with Spanish from different countries. It’s important to practice listening to speakers from Spain and different Latin American countries.
- In addition, the interpretive reading (reading comprehension) section requires you to have a superior level of Spanish. Many people are comfortable with speaking and understanding Spanish. However, reading the advanced, cognitive language can be challenging. This course will give you several passages to read and answer questions to practice.
- Even if you are confident in your Spanish speaking skills, you need to practice responding to the oral expression (speaking) tasks. This comprehensive course gives you files you can use to record yourself and then upload the files to get feedback on how to improve.
- Finally, most people need to improve their writing skills. For example, most people do not properly use accent marks and sometimes do not use the correct register. This course has sample writing tasks that would earn a perfect score, and you have the opportunity to write your own response to three tasks in Spanish and two tasks in English to receive feedback on how to improve.
