What Do I Need to Pass?
- Are you completely fluent in all areas of Spanish (reading, writing, speaking, and listening)? This includes knowing where to put accent marks. If you are completely fluent in all areas of Spanish, then you might only need a digital course for Pedagogy/Instruction and Assessment or a printable LOTE Spanish 613 Study Guide for Pedagogy/Instruction and Assessment.
- If you need to brush up on Spanish (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), and learn the Pedagogy/Instruction and Assessment, then enroll in the LOTE 613 Course or buy the printable LOTE Spanish 613 Study Guide for Pedagogy/Instruction and Assessment AND the Writing Tasks Bundle.
- You might also be interested in a sample pedagogy test to check your understanding. It is available as a printable PDF or as a self-checking quiz.

Is the Free LOTE Spanish 613 Study Material Enough?
The free tips will help you get more points, but almost EVERYONE needs a study guide for the instruction and assessment/pedagogy section. If you don’t know about Stephen Krashen, Noam Chomsky, Dell Hymes, the 5 C’s, and the ACTFL Guidelines, the FLEX and FLES programs, etc., then you NEED a pedagogy/instruction and assessment course or guide. You can learn more about the pedagogy section here.
The Texas NESINC manual is free and has some great information, but it’s just a starting guide. For example, it will tell you that you need to know second language acquisition experts and models, but it won’t tell you which ones. That’s why you need a good study guide or course.
To have a good shot at passing the test, you need to buy good LOTE Spanish 613 Study Material – either a printable study guide, digital course, or a book.
Be sure to check out our post on how to pass the LOTE.
